Supported Audio Codecs

At Imperial Telecom, the following audio codecs are supported.
Take note of the required bandwidth, and ensure your router QoS (Quality of Service) is set correctly).
 
  • G.711 (recommended)
    • 64 Kbps - ulaw (as used in Canada, Japan and US)
    • 64 Kpbs - alaw (as used in Europe and the rest of the world)

      Bandwidth (incl. overhead): 160 Kbps (0.16 Mbps)
  • G.726
    • 32 Kbps

      Bandwidth (incl. overhead): 48 Kbps (0.05 Mbps)
       
  • G.729
    • 8 Kbps

      Bandwidth (incl. overhead): 48 Kbps (0.05 Mbps)
       
  • GSM
    • 13.3 Kbps

      Bandwidth (incl. overhead): 58 Kbps (0.06 Mbps)
